Summer in Southern California is a time of enjoying the beauty around us, outdoor activities and surviving the heat. Plants that started as seeds this spring are already blossoming and producing summer fruit. Summer is a time of ripeness and also one of preparation. At Rebirth Homes, it’s a busy season as we prepare for fall functions. It seems like time flies by, and in the blink of an eye Christmas will be here!
In preparation for the fall, we are planning our November gala. We are excited to share with you once we’ve confirmed the details, so watch for our fall gala save the dates. Also, we would love for you to pray over sponsoring, helping with, or attending our event. The fall gala is critical for the ministry as all the funds raised go toward our long-term residential healing program. It is an amazing opportunity to invest in the future success of survivors of trafficking.
Your generous donations are why Rebirth can offer its two-year program free of charge to women who have exited the life of trafficking. Our long-term residential program provides the opportunity for healing and economic stability to participants.
During the first part of our two-year program, the focus is on healing. Community is a key part of the Rebirth Homes experience, and women in our program participate in 10-12 group activities weekly. We offer Bible studies, group therapy facilitated by therapists, life skill training such as financial literacy, and other groups. After 90 days, participants may apply for a part-time job in Rebirth Homes’ Freedom Shop, our social enterprise. Employment hours increase over time to help prepare participants to transition out of the program. Since the program is free of charge and because we are committed to helping graduates become self-sufficient, we require participants to save money to prepare them for graduation. We are so excited to be able to invest in their futures!
I am happy to share that we have hired program participants and graduates to serve in the ministry, one of them full-time. Their voices are critical to us as an organization, and we want to ensure that everything we do is focused on ensuring all voices are heard. Our current staff composition is approximately 40% of people with lived experience, which deepens our engagement with program participants.
In 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT), Paul writes, “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’” Time and time again, we have seen this cheerful giving from our supporters. Thank you so much for all you do! Every donation makes a difference for the women served through Rebirth Homes. We appreciate every donor who gives life change to survivors of human trafficking by investing in the future! If you are not already part of our monthly support team, will you prayerfully consider joining?
