**This blog entry was originally published on October 17th, 2023 as part of our October 2023 digital newsletter** When Anne (name changed for confidentiality purposes) came to Rebirth Homes in 2022, she had been recruited online and lured to the United States with promises of a relationship and a great holiday in California. Little did she know that she was being groomed and recruited for trafficking. During conversations with her prior to her coming in, she was hiding from the trafficker and trying to get to safety which is very scary. During her time in the life of trafficking, she experienced homelessness and many horrors and was fortunate to escape. Once she arrived at Rebirth Homes, she started to breathe and sleep again and felt safe for the first time in years. The first few months were spent addressing health issues that she was unable to take care of while being trafficked. While addressing said health issues, she attended individual and group therapy while also attending Rebirth Homes’ classes. Anne’s joy and caring personality eventually shined through as she built trust with other participants and staff, however she felt unworthy to receive Jesus as her savior. She felt like she needed to “clean up her life” and then she would be able to accept Jesus as Lord. Around Christmas time, we were at church and Anne made the bold decision to come forward and ask Jesus to be her Lord. A couple of months later, she was baptized (see photo below). It was a joy to celebrate this day with her! As she continued to grow and work through trauma, Anne went through a tough season and was consumed with grief. We kept praying and walking with her, every step of the way. In September 2023, she made the decision to return to her home country where she has the safety of family. Once she made this decision, everything lined up perfectly. She will be a light in the country she returned to and we could not be more happy for her!
